What is a Life Coach

What is life coaching?

Life coaching is a partnership between the life coach and the client, to empower the client to move forward with personal and professional decisions. The coach assesses the situation, aids in finding solutions, and helps the client to clarify and reach achievable goals, within an organized time frame.

What can a life coach do for me?

People often get “stuck” because they are overwhelmed with life’s challenges and daily stress. They get frustrated, angry and often make poor decisions. The life coach keeps the client focused, on track, and helps the client identify and maximize their strengths and priorities in order to achieve self-defined goals. A coach can empower the client, resolve problems, help reduce stress and achieve overall confidence, good health and success.

How does a life coach differ from a therapist?

Life coaching helps people to focus in on their goals and is an active participant in the process of organizing and prioritizing in order to achieve those goals. While both life coaching and therapy serve to improve a general sense of well being, and may overlap in certain respects, a life coach is not a therapist. Therapy often involves an internal focus on mental health issues, whereas life coaching, as its name suggests, is much more about external objectives and achievement.
